ABOUT
Flizzie Thompson’s work combines mental health advocacy,
feminism, and art history, all topics that were considered taboo during her upbringing in the Deep South. The devastating loss of her brother and, later, her best friend has shaped her advocacy for mental health, which, in turn, continued into her artistic practice. After graduating with her BFA in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Flizzie plans to continue her education in the field of art history conservation. Due to this interest, Flizzie’s work now incorporates the creation of paints and the study of making works archival. These themes invite the viewer to connect the layered meanings in her works and to care about the spaces and people around them.
